Links to K-12 support in teaching about Africa

The African Studies Association's Outreach Councillink icon offers services in support of K-12 teachers seeking support in teaching about Africa. The Outreach Council sponsors an annual teacher workshop held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the African Studies Association. Outreach programs are sponsored at a number of African Studies Centers which specifically support K-12 efforts. Websites include examples of a wide variety of teacher support including lesson plans, continuing education opportunities, lending libraries and materials kits, films etc. In Illinois and adjacent states there are several such programs: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaignlink icon, Indiana Universitylink icon, Michigan State Universitylink icon and the University of Wisconsin Madisonlink icon.

Other active outreach centers include Boston Universitylink icon, University of California Los Angeleslink icon, University of Floridalink icon, University of Kansaslink icon, University of North Carolina Chapel Hilllink icon and the University of Pennsylvanialink icon.
